You may think that Valentine's day is tricky enough as it is. Now with a global pandemic forcing us to lockdown, it may be even more difficult to treat that special someone. But don't panic! Here's a few romantic options for you and the love of your life this Sunday.
Cook a Fancy Meal
With supermarkets being one of the only shops still open, it makes sense to take a quick detour on your way home to pick up some fresh ingredients. A bottle of wine, a few candles and a bouquet of flowers can help whip up a romantic treat for your partner.
More often than not the thought and effort that you put in is more valuable than the amount of money that you spend. Throw a tablecloth over the kitchen table, sprinkle a little table confetti (or rose petals if you’re feeling particularly fancy), light a couple of candles, use a vase of flowers as your centerpiece and try your best to cook a tasty dish. Even if the meal isn’t great your partner will feel really special. Just make sure that you do the washing up afterwards to score yourself a couple of extra points.
Flowers
Flowers are always a gorgeous and traditional treat. They add a lot of vibrancy to your home and studies have shown that they actually really benefit our mental health. Despite the national lockdown, flowers are still available and can be delivered straight to your door.
Here are some of our favourite high street options -
If you want to support your local florist who may be struggling during the lockdown, have a look on their website/social media pages. Chances are that they are still open and able to safely deliver flowers directly to your front door.
Home Cinema
Sometimes there’s nothing better that snuggling up on the sofa with a glass of wine and a few snacks. Treat your loved one to a special night in. Go to your local convenience store, grab loads of snacks, order takeout, light a couple of candles (for that romantic feel) and pop Netflix on.
A Bath
After driving all day you’ll probably know the simple luxury of a nice bath. Give your partner a relaxing treat with a simple soak in the tub.
To spice things up a bit, add some bath salts, a bath bomb and some bubble bath to the mix. The gorgeous aroma from the tub should be enticing enoug,h but you can elevate this further by lighting a few candles, scattering a few rose petals and popping on some relaxing music.
