We are emailing to inform you of planned upcoming CHIEF system outage on Wednesday 27th April & Wednesday 4th May 2022.
We have been advised that this is NOT a GVMS outage but this as an advisory that the planned outage might affect CHIEF declarations validations via GVMS.
Due to scheduled planned outage on the CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight) service, the following actions linked to CHIEF might be affected from 12:00 - 14:00 on Wednesday 27th April and Wednesday 4th May 2022:
- create or update a goods movement reference (GMR) — an error will occur if CHIEF declarations are being associated to the goods movement reference.
- check-in goods movement references (GMRs) (outbound) — goods movement references with CHIEF declarations will go to a ‘controlled’ state and when the maintenance ends:
- queued messages will be processed.
- the risking response may change from ‘controlled’ to ‘release’.
- embark goods movement reference (outbound) — departure messages will be queued and will be processed and updated when the maintenance ends.
- embark goods movement reference (inbound) — goods movement references with CHIEF declarations will go to a ‘controlled state’ and when the maintenance ends:
- queued messages will be processed.
- the risking response may change from ‘controlled’ to ‘release’.
During this time, GMR's remain mandatory for freight movements using GVMS and hauliers without a valid GMR will be dock exited.
The core services of the goods vehicle movement service will be available. You will still be able to enter and validate Customs Declaration Service and New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) declarations to get a goods movement reference during this downtime.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
